WKSN Ranger Program
Wagyl Kaip Southern Noongar Aboriginal Corporation (WKSNAC) Ranger program provides opportunities for our young men and women to learn the hands-on skills and cultural knowledge to look after Country in the Noongar Land Estate. Through the program, WKSNAC is seeking to deliver land and sea management that will meet the future economic, social and cultural needs of its people by engaging with its Elders and forming partnerships with other land management agencies.
Our Rangers are responsible for.
· Installing firebreaks and their maintenance
· Controlling weeds using chemical and manual methods
· Fire management using cultural and modern practices
· Bush track design, installation and maintenance
· Feral animal control –using best practice guidelines for trapping and baiting
· Protecting and restoring cultural sites
· Environmental restoration by preparing the soil and direct seeding vegetation
WKSNAC Rangers will also work with other land management providers to deliver similar services on a fee for service basis.
