About WKSN Aboriginal Corporation

The Wagyl Kaip and Southern Noongar people are the Traditional Owners of approximately 52,246km² and includes the towns of Buyups Brook, Gowangerup, Bridgetown, Walpole, Denmark, Mt Barker, Cranbrook, Tambellup, Katanning, Nyabing, Jerramungup, Ravensthorpe, Hopetoun, Bremer Bay and Albany. Wagyl Kaip and Southern Noongar lays east of the South West Boojarah region and south of the Gnaala Karla Booja region.

Wagyl Kaip Southern Noongar Aboriginal Corporation (WKSN) was formed as a result of the South West Native Title Settlement (Settlement). WKSN has been established to assist Wagyl Kaip and Southern Noongar people to maintain, protect, promote and support their culture and manage the land and waters within their country. WKSN is party to one of six Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUA) that comprise the Settlement.


Acting Chief Executive Officer: Expression of Interest

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) reports to the Board of Directors of the Wagyl Kaip Southern Noongar Aboriginal Corporation, and is responsible for the leadership of the Corporation.

The CEO will provide strategic policy advice, direction, development and executive management on issues related to Heritage and Land Management, Aboriginal wellbeing, economic and community development, and oversee and provide strategic direction of the Corporation.

The position will identify and analyse emerging political and community trends and develop responsive, innovative, practical policy and programs that deliver desired outcomes for our diverse stakeholders. The CEO will provide leadership and strategic direction to guide and support the Corporation’s approach to Aboriginal perspectives in its policies, programs, strategies, services and initiatives.

A key function of the position will be to build and manage productive and effective relationships and partnerships that engage with its key stakeholders.

It’s a full time fixed-term role for three months with the possibility of extension, based in Albany.
