Farewell to CEO Lisa Smith

Our inaugural CEO Lisa Smith has stepped down from her role following the end of her contract, in order to make room for a new CEO to manage the next phase of our establishment.

Lisa came to WKSN with incredible knowledge and energy to help our corporation during the initial set-up period, and during her time with us has ensured that we are more than ready for this next phase in our journey.

On behalf of the board and WKSN staff, we want to thank Lisa for everything she achieved. We have a dynamic team who’ve thrived under her leadership, making great progress on setting up the cooperative management committee, the marine park, and preparing for the first land parcels to be accepted into the Noongar Land Estate.

We recently held 4 meetings in Perth and on country for members to ask questions and learn more about the land estate, and there are another 7 planned for the next few months in the lead up to our AGM. As well as regular in-person meetings we’ll continue to keep members fully informed of our work through our regular newsletters and online.

WKSN Chairperson Jeanice Krakouer said that “although we’re sad to say goodbye to Lisa, we’re grateful for the strong foundation she’s left for us as we transition from the start-up period to the next phase of our establishment as your regional corporation.”

Thank you Lisa, and good luck in your new role.
