Mamang Maambakoort Marine Park: Joint Management Update

Recently the WKSN AC Mamang Maambakoort Marine Park (MMMP) Joint Management Committee travelled to Hopetoun to participate in an underwater marine science project.

In partnership with DBCA, the WKSN Joint Management Committee members helped drop 30 Baited Remote Underwater Vehicles (BRUVs) that film and count fish within the Marinee Park.

The WKSN Joint Management Committee members are: Graeme Miniter, Deborah Woods, Murray Hodson, Iris Woods,  Stuart Roberts and Darryl Eades.

The Joint Management Committee also visited sites within the Fitzgerald National Park to assess recent bushfire damage.

Graeme Miniter, the Chairperson of the MMMP Joint Management Body said β€œit was a great experience for both the Noongar Joint Management Body members who learned about marine science methods and also for the DBCA staff who learned about many of the Noongar cultural values within the Mamang Maambakoort Marie Park and the Fitzgerald National Park. We look forward to many more knowledge exchange projects between the WKSN Noongar Community and DBCA.”
