Salary $127,941 per annum + superannuation.
Annual salary increase every year based on CPI.
Salary packaging (up to $15,899 a year, + meal/entertainment benefit of $2,650 a year).

The role
The Ranger Manager provides leadership and oversight of the WKSN AC Land Management Program, ensuring its effective delivery and continuous improvement.
The role is responsible for establishing and coordinating Land Management (Ranger) Teams, including recruitment, training, and work scheduling, in collaboration with the Senior Rangers, and for driving implementation of the Operational and Business Plan.
The Ranger Manager leads and supports all Land Management Team staff, ensuring a safe working environment and compliance with occupational health and safety standards, while overseeing the management of depots, vehicles, and equipment.
The position may involve liaison with the WKSN AC Board and Cultural Advice Committee, as appropriate, to embed Noongar cultural knowledge and ensure cultural protocols are respected across all land management activities.
The role manages program budgets, financial acquittals, and all grant funding obligations, including compliance and reporting requirements.
In addition, the Ranger Manager actively pursues new funding opportunities and partnerships to support program growth, including the development and submission of funding applications.

The position is based in Albany, with regular travel across the Wagyl Kaip Southern Noongar region

Full time (37.5 hours per week).
About us
WKSN AC represents the Noongar people of the Wagyl Kaip Southern Noongar region and is responsible for implementing the South West Native Title Settlement. The region spans Boyup Brook, Kojonup, Gnowangerup, Walpole, Denmark, Mt Barker, Cranbrook, Tambellup, Katanning, Jerramungup, Ravensthorpe, Hopetoun, Bremer Bay, and Albany.
A key component of the Settlement is the establishment of the Noongar Land Estate (NLE), comprising approximately 320,000 hectares of reserve and freehold land for cultural and economic development. WKSN AC will manage a significant portion of NLE cultural land, creating opportunities for sustainable economic, social, and cultural outcomes for the Noongar community.
WKSN AC has secured funding to establish Land Management (Ranger) Teams based in Albany and Kojonup, with additional teams planned for the western and eastern parts of the region.
An Operational and Business Plan has been developed to guide the establishment of these teams and the delivery of the WKSN AC NLE Land Management Program
Key responsibilities:
In cooperation with the Senior Rangers implement the WKSN AC Ranger Operational and Business Plan
In collaboration with local Elders, Noongar representatives and Senior Rangers draft Operation Management Plans for on boarded NLE reserve land as required.
Oversee the establishment of new WKSN AC Ranger depots within its region as required.
Oversee the purchase of land management equipment (including vehicles).
Organise the recruitment of the WKSN AC Ranger Team/s.
Ensure the efficient and safe operations of the Land Management Team.
Manage budget acquittals, implementation of annual plans, invoicing, and payment of expenses where appropriate.
Seek and prepare grant funding applications and undertake the necessary reporting and reconciliation requirements.
Ensure the WKSN AC Land Management Team (Ranger Team) is meeting occupational health and safety obligations and standards.
Establish cooperative arrangements with DBCA and other stakeholders (where appropriate) to arrange on country training, land management activities and Noongar cultural site protection.
Ensure all staff work respectfully and effectively with WKSN Elders to ensure Noongar cultural safety for staff and protection of Noongar cultural sites and values.
Implement regular reviews of staffing requirements including supervision and performance management of the WKSN AC Land Management Team (Ranger Team).
Use the WKSN AC Land Management System (training will be provided)

Selection Criteria:
Essentials
Experience leading a Team working in a land related field such as land or environmental management and/or Aboriginal cultural heritage management.
Extensive knowledge and experience in land management practices.
The ability to be able to communicate respectfully and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders including writing briefings and funding applications and operational plans.
An understanding of Occupational and Health and Safety practices and obligations.
The ability to be able to oversee and lead a Team to undertake safely and efficiently works in semi remote locations.
The ability to be able to use various computer applications (Excel, Word etc) and manage budgets, employees and meet grant funding acquittal obligations.
Problem solving ability and initiative.
TAFE or Tertiary qualifications in a land related field will be highly regarded.
Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to, engage effectively with the broader WKSN Noongar community and to liaise with government and corporate stakeholders.
