Expression of Interest: Wagyl Kaip Southern Noongar Aboriginal Corporation Cooperative Management Committee

The Wagyl Kaip Southern Noongar Aboriginal Corporation (WKSN AC) is calling for Expressions of Interest for membership of the WKSN Cooperative Management Committee (WKSN CMC).

WKSN Cooperative Management Committee

The WKSN AC Cooperative management Committee is a Committee set up between the WKSN AC and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) to provide high level strategic advice to DBCA (and the Minster for the Environment) regarding the use and management of the Conservation Estate in the WKSN region. The Conservation Estate includes: national parks, marine parks, state forests, conservation park and nature reserves managed by DBCA.

The WKSN Cooperative Management Committee Role

The Role of the WKSN Cooperative Management Committee is to:

  • Select and advise on identifying conservation estate for formal joint management agreements under CALM Act

  • Advise on management plans and Aboriginal heritage issues (including due diligence)

  • Advise on relevant policies, programs and other management documents

  • Advise on Noongar land access and customary activities and is the key reference point for ‘local area arrangements’

  • Advise on Aboriginal employment and economic development initiatives

  • Review opportunities for Noongar participation in contracting and other economic development activities

  • Advise on other agreed matters.

Call for Expressions of Interest for WKSN Cooperative Management Committee Members

WKSN AC is seeking Expressions of Interest from WKSN Noongar People who are interested in being appointed to the WKSN Cooperative Management Committee.

WKSN AC Cooperative Management Committee members will be paid sitting fees and travel fees to attend meetings. There will be a minimum of three meetings a year commencing in early 2025.

How Do I Apply

Please provide the following:

  • A short letter describing your cultural and/or environmental knowledge of the WKSN Conservation Estate (national parks, marine parks, state forests, conservation park and nature reserves managed by DBCA) and also tell us why you should be selected to represent the WKSN Group on the Committee.

  • Please also send through your CV – Resume so we know what experience you have.
